Feature Friday... paper-and -string

This week I'd like to feature one of the first blogs I ever really got into.  It was before I began blogging, and I was really getting into felt as a medium.  I was searching everywhere on fun designs and ideas with felt and came across paper-and-string.  Her blog walks through her crafting life, and I have loved watching her move from her home into a real art studio and organize her crafting world.  It has been an inspiration to see someone take their crafting business to new levels and succeed.

One of the first things I loved on her site and had to try making was her little hand-stitched felt purses from her tutorial. How cute are these?

I, of course, forgot to take pics of the ones I made for friends for Christmas before sending them off.  Harumph.  But other people remembered better than I, and they have shared their creation at paper-and-string's felt purse flicker group.  Love it!

Like I said, she has been making little felt cuties for her etsy store for some time.  They are totally adorable, every single one of them.  Like check out some of these little guys to get ready for the holiday rush.

Teehee!  They are so cute!

And ack!!!  How can you not love these little guys!?

I think I'd call it an army of adorable!

So go check her site out for more inspiration, cute tutorials, and see what you need at her etsy store.  Paper-and-string, thanks for sharing with us!

Drumroll please! My new etsy store!!

I am super excited to announce that I have officially opened my new etsy store!!  My new business, dubbed 23point4 degree tilt, is upcycled and recycled fashion for the masses.  I am excited at the possibilities that reusing fabrics and items allows for fashion and home items.

Here are a few of the items you will find in my store....

I hope you will check it out and like a few of the items.  More will be joining them, soon!  Super exciting!  One more New Year's Resolution checked off!

Oh man, sometimes life gets in the way of blogging!

Well, everyone.  I am sorry to have been super neglectful as of the last couple weeks!   My life has been something else as of late, and I must admit that, while I will try to be better, I may be a little M.I.A. until after the election since I work in politics!

Last weekend, however, I totally bailed out and went camping along the beautiful McKenzie River.  It was sooo nice and sooo needed.

Mmm...cookies and tea while camping.

How gorgeous is this river?  It is the river that many of the towns nearby get our drinking water, a great river for rafting, and absolutely beautiful to camp along.

And then last weekend, I used much of the weekend to put some food up for the upcoming busy work season.  Plum sauce, plum jam, breads, applesauce, and frozen soups.  MMMM!  Oh, and I will be soon sharing the recipe for my apple empanadas which I am seriously loving.  Here is a peek at the pretty little guys.

Fried little pockets of goodness.

Feature Fridays...Checkout Girl

I love felt...and when I was first really getting into the fun stuff you can make with it, I came across Melissa's blog, Checkout Girl.  I cannot believe the adorable stuff that she makes with felt!  Her embroidery with felt is almost too cute.  For Christmas one year I tried to make something sorta similar, and was wishing I had just purchased one of her creations.  They are way better.

For instance...you know I love chickens.  So how awesome is this?

Teehee!!! Check out the evolution of this little chicken creation here.

The applique that I tried was from this tutorial (which was featured on Sew Mama Sew) called, Little Pink House.  Mine was ok, but hers is so cute.

Cute, right?

And I just found this one....

LOVE!

Check out her blog and her etsy shop.  Right now.  And tell me that you can even come close to her embroidery and applique.  The details that she gets into on faces and people, out of this world!
Melissa, thanks for sharing your talents and your process with us.  So fun to see!
